Expectation vs. Reality, Things Don’t Always Go as Planned

Expectation vs. Reality

Expectation is the belief that something will happen or be the case.

Well, things don’t always go as planned.

expectation vs reality

Have you ever crossed paths with someone who offers you what you see as the opportunity of a lifetime, you excitedly say yes, and instantly you attach a string of expectations on that person or situation to what you believe will happen.

Expectation vs. Reality can be complex

if you are not aware of all the expectations you attach to hopes and dreams and then reality comes along and craps on our expectations!!

Assigning Expectations on others is the root of all heartache.

When the expectations in life aren’t met we feel crestfallen and dejected. Reality shows up at the door blasting us with news we were not expecting to hear.

At that moment emotions of hurt and anger buzz to the surface, and out of that affliction our words and actions usually end up hurting others involved.

The sting of rejection doesn’t hurt as much as the expectation does. It becomes difficult to come out of a shell that you wrap yourself in, once the rejection of your expectations occurs one too many times.

expectayion Vs reality

The truth is, I’ve experienced the feeling of rejection many times in the past six years, until I took a hard look at myself one day, and realized my belief had me placing expectations on people or situations, which only fed rejection. In the end I felt bewildered and heartbroken causing me to react out of my hurt and pain.

Having these high expectations on people suffocated a positive frame of mind for all human beings.

Keeping Expectation vs. Reality in perspective I avoid a whole bunch of unnecessary anguish upon myself by not piling expectations on others.

My life lesson I give too you on Expectation vs. Reality is this;

Do Not Expect Others to live up to Your Expectations but more Importantly keep High Aspirations for Yourself and Moderate Expectations with only Small Needs.

I believe one of the ways to break out of the distressed shell we get curled up in is to continue to fill our life with goals, set out to accomplish them, no matter how big or small, building hope and reaping fruitful results. Push through the flood of hurt and frustration that has clouded your joy by reaching for clear blue skies of encouragement.

Expectations vs Reality; is your reality weakened by broken expectations or do you expect the very best in your reality?
